Summary: On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.

In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.

Review: Some books I get really excited about for no apparent reason. This was one of those books. I didn't hear much about it (good or bad) and I knew only vaguely what it was about (two angels fighting over a girl), but I still couldn't wait for it. So once I did get my hands on it I read it in one sitting, and boy was it good.

To start let's get something straight. This is not the deepest book in the world. It is one of those angst-ridden paranormal romance books that I secretly love and adore. I didn't make any real connections to the characters. They were simply tools in telling the story, nothing really to connect to. That being said I still loved Asher and Devin, and I'm sure an epic battle between team Asher and team Devin will ensue soon.

I loved Skye's friends and wish they had played a bigger role in the book. Don't get me wrong they were in there quite a bit. I just wish they were in there more. Skye didn't make a big impression on me. I honestly wasn't emotionally invested in her that much.

The thing that I think made this book absolutely amazing was that ending. OMG HOW CAN IT END THERE?!?! That was what my parents had to here me say for about 20 minutes after I finished A Beautiful Dark. The ending is possibly the most cruel cliff hanger I've ever seen. It answers a lot about what's going on with Asher and Devin, but the other stuff? (I'm being vague to avoid spoilers. But if you've read it you know exactly what I'm talking about.) Gah! I need the sequel...NOW!

A Beautiful Dark is a fun read that can have some surprisingly serious moments. I didn't get very invested in the characters, but it's a good book to pass some time with.
